Sara M. Gorman, MS, LMFT
Hi, I'm Sara! (she/her)

As a therapist specializing in trauma and attachment-based therapy, I am deeply committed to creating a safe and nurturing space where you can begin to heal. I understand the profound impact that trauma can have on your life, and I approach our work together with compassion, patience, and a deep respect for your unique journey.
My goal is to help you process your experiences, reclaim your sense of self, and own your power.

My approach: My mission is to create a space where everyone feels safe and welcomed--a place where clients can openly share their stories and challenges without the fear of being judged.
I primarily utilize DBT techniques and systemic-relational approaches in my practice.

As a clinician, I prioritize: Building resilience, deepening self-awareness, and guiding my clients toward balanced, fulfilling lives. I believe that healing the inner child is a profound and transformative process. When we experience trauma, particularly during childhood, parts of us can remain stuck in those painful moments, affecting how we feel, think, and behave as adults. By connecting with that inner child—listening to their needs, validating their feelings, and offering them the care they may not have received at the time—we begin to heal those old wounds. In our work together, I guide you through this process with compassion and safety, helping you reparent that inner child with kindness, patience, and understanding. By embracing those vulnerable parts of yourself, you can foster deeper self-acceptance and emotional resilience, ultimately allowing you to move forward with greater peace and wholeness. Healing the inner child isn't about reliving the past, but about offering that part of yourself the love and nurturing they always deserved.
I also aim to work to build healthy attachments and breaking cycles of co-dependency. Healing co-dependency involves recognizing the tendency to prioritize others' needs over your own and learning to set healthy boundaries. By addressing underlying fears or low self-worth, you can develop emotional independence and healthier relationships. This process fosters self-empowerment and fulfillment from within, rather than seeking validation from others.

I particularly excel in working with: (1) Adults, teens, and and children who have experienced and are striving to overcome trauma, (2) individuals struggling with co-dependency, depression, anxiety, and mood-related issues, and (3) individuals and families experiencing significant life transitions.

My clients describe me as: Calming, informative, and insightful

My favorite quote: "I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become."
-Carl Jung

Sara's Clinical Services

1
(Adult) Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a safe and confidential space where you can explore thoughts, feelings, and emotions without fear of judgment. We'll work together to identify patterns that may be holding you back, develop strategies to help you move forward, and discover how family patterns and/or trauma may contribute to current issues. And don't worry, we'll have some laughs along the way - therapy doesn't have to be all serious!
2
Child/Adolescent Therapy
When working with children/ adolescents who have experienced trauma, my approach is grounded in empathy, patience, and a deep understanding of the impact that trauma can have on young minds. Through a combination of talk therapy, play therapy, and other evidenced-based techniques, I help my clients process their experiences, build resilience, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where young people can heal and grow, and I bring warmth, humor, and expertise to each session to help them feel comfortable and understood.
3
Family Therapy
Family therapy is a collaborative process that involves all members of a family. As a therapist, my role is to facilitate communication and understanding among family members. Through active listening, empathy, and evidence-based interventions, we work together to address issues and improve relationships. While the process can be challenging, my approach is warm, knowledgeable, and professional, with the goal of helping families achieve lasting positive change.
